SyFy?

Does anyone have any idea as to how to get a project in front of people at SyFy? Or, better still, would any of my fans and readers happen to have an “in” with anyone at SyFy to help me get a project in front of them?

Advice, Please

A few years back I was working with an independent film director/producer/writer/actor. This person runs his own small film company. He had originally hired me to write one film for his company, then a second. After that we teamed up on some other projects. I had never done film work before, and my first contract with him specified that I wouldn’t get payment for that first project until it was made.

However, none of the projects I’d written for him, or that we’d worked on together, have been filmed due to his inability to acquire funding. Then, a year or so ago, I discovered that he was advertising a new project on-line. This project was the first film he’d hired me to write. He had teamed up with someone else, taken the ideas I created from the core idea he had given me when he first asked me to write the screenplay for him, changed the title and the character names, and was progressing with the project. He’s never said a word at all to me about this, despite cutting me out of it, and running with my ideas and material.

Any suggestions on what I should do? The “new” project is now listed in IMDB for a 2015 release. Do I have any recourse here, or am I just out of luck all the way around?

Howl Out Cast – Update

issue1cover

Not too long ago I posted about a werewolf-themed podcast that was to do a bit regarding the hit webcomic “MoonWraith“, by Desirée Lee and myself. Due to circumstances beyond our control, that hasn’t happened yet. But it’s supposed to. Soon, too. And things will be better than the host simply telling listeners a bit about the webcomic. How much better? Desirée and I should be on the air with the host in a podcast soon to talk about “MoonWraith”. Cool, huh? Keep watching for updates!

6th Article

Lycanthrope

You all know by now that I’m a contributing writer for the paranormal news website All About Occult. It’s been a while between my 5th and 6th articles. The site changed servers not long ago. I waited until it was up and running on the new server before submitting my newest piece for them. That article is now live. See it here. This one talks about a time when I used to work with a guy who claimed to be a lycanthrope, and my thoughts about his claims.

As always, to continue writing new articles for All About Occult, I need ideas for topics. So, if anyone has a paranormal topic you would like to see me cover in an All About Occult article, please let me know. If it’s a topic that has not been covered on the site, I can do it. If it’s a new angle, or even just new information regarding something that has already been covered for the site, then it’s still fair game. Please contact me via my website with suggestions.

“Wallykazam”

As you all know, Desirée Lee and I are the parents of a highly-intelligent 20-month-old (as of today!) daughter. Those of you who follow us on Facebook know her simply as Toddler Girl. In a past post on this blog, I explained why we don’t post her name, or photos, on-line. Anyway…

A while back we discovered a fantastic children’s television series on Nick Jr. called “Wallykazam”. Our daughter loves it. Although it’s’ a children’s program, Desirée and I quite enjoy it, too. “Wallykazam” is a fun, whimsical, and at times laugh-out-loud funny series that teaches small children vocabulary, word use, and problem solving. Here’s the opening title sequence of the show:

The main character of “Wallykazam” is a troll boy named Wally Trollman. In each episode, he goes on an adventure with his pet dragon Norville (who is much like a dog in most ways) and is typically accompanied by some mixture of his group of friends – Ogre Doug, Gina Giant, Libby Lightsprite, Stan of the Swamp, Betty Yeti, and Bobgoblin to name a few. Bobgoblin is sort of a friend/enemy in the show. Often, when things go wrong, Bobgoblin has either caused the problem, or makes whatever is going on worse. Bobgoblin is also Desirée’s favorite character in the show.

The teaching aspects of this wonderful show mix perfectly with the fantasy setting and characters to be a tailor-made fit for our household. We’re very glad of the show, and have the DVR set to record all showings of it. Even episodes we’ve already seen are most welcome.

Why am I talking about this children’s series here on my writing blog? Because I would be honored to work on an episode of it! Can anyone reading this help make that happen? If so, please get in touch with me via the “Contact” page of my website.
