Favorite Punctuation?
This is an odd topic, but it’s something I’ve been wondering about for some time now. A lot of writers seem to really like certain punctuation marks. Other writers are very outspoken against other punctuation marks. I’ve heard comments from readers to the same affect. Some of them really like certain forms of punctuation, while having a strong dislike for others. So, I’m curious. Are there any forms of punctuation that you, as a reader, or as an author, have strong feelings for one way or the other?
As for myself, and award-winning, bestselling author, once you’ve read my work, you’ll probably be easily able to tell my two favorite punctuation marks. I very much like the semicolon (;), and the em dash (—). Yet a lot of people rail against the semicolon. I don’t know why. It’s one of my favorite forms of punctuation; I love them! Why do so many people, readers and writers alike, have such disdain for semicolons?

Those who argue against semicolons may think they’re half-assed. Also, semicolons are intimidating to some. There are other ways to deal with lists and groups of things and they just feel semicolons are too fussy. I don’t mind semicolons, but I don’t create sentences just to give them work.
