#BookReviews Needed

Hidden_Tribe_Cover

Desirée Lee, and I are looking for reviews of our new book, “Hidden Tribe”. If you’re a book reviewer, and interested in giving this a read, please get in touch with me via the “Contact” page of my website.

For fans who might have missed the buy links posted here before, I’ll share them again:

Amazon Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FOWDAYQ

Sasquatch–they live peacefully in the forests, and woodlands. They want little, or nothing, to do with humans, and our civilization. As a whole, sasquatch are tranquil, quiet beings who live harmoniously with nature, and avoid us.

But what happens when humans refuse to return the favor?

Researcher Alexia Hollander is about to find out. When she ventures into the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, seeking evidence of the elusive species, things quickly get out of hand. Another researcher deliberately gets in Alexia’s way. Campers, and hunters bumble in, adding their own disruptive presence to the quiet work that Alexia wants to perform.

With their home territory invaded by humans, a mated pair of sasquatch keep the intruders under close surveillance. They aren’t happy about the presence of the trespassers, and want them gone. Just how far will these normally restrained beings go to protect their family, and themselves? Alexia, and her unwanted companions are about to find out!

Reviews, Please

These days, authors need reviews. People look to those to help them decide whether or not to read a given book. Yet many people don’t want to take the time to leave a review.

So, I’m putting this out there to specifically ask all of my fans and readers to please do so. If you read a book – mine, or any other author’s – please take time to leave a review for it. Amazon. Goodreads. Wherever. The more reviews a book has, the better it’s apt to sell.

Quintana Roo, Yucatan” is an award-winning bestseller. Sadly, it’s bestseller status hasn’t yet happened on Amazon. But that book has only four reviews on Amazon. Yet I’ve seen books on Amazon with hundreds of reviews. Please help me out here, everyone. Please take the time to leave reviews of my work – especially if you’ve liked it. It would be a huge help to me.

Thank you.

Amazon Affiliate Codes?

Amazon_Boxes

Are any of my fans or readers at all familiar with Amazon.com’s affiliate codes? Some time ago, I signed up to be an affiliate. It seemed like a good way to bring in a little bit of additional cash. We have a 16-month-old daughter; additional cash is always welcome! But, although I know for a fact Amazon orders have been placed using my Amazon affiliate code, I’ve not yet been credited a single penny by Amazon. Why? Does Amazon only allow the affiliate credit on certain, selected items? If so, they need to be a lot more up-front about that, and about which items the affiliate codes work on, and when.

So, can anyone tell me just what, when, where, and how the Amazon affiliate codes work? It would be very nice to be able to use those to pick up a little additional income to help support my wife and daughter. Amazon hasn’t been clear on what I’ve heard from them on this matter.

Fan Fiction?

A while back, when Amazon started up Kindle Worlds, I was thrilled. There are a couple of comic book properties I’ve been watching Kindle Worlds for, hoping to see them there. For those who have been following my career over the long-term, you probably know just which ones I’m talking about, and why. For those of you who don’t…

Several years ago, I was in talks with Mirage Studios – back before Peter Laird sold off the franchise – about doing some writing for the main “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” comic book. I had four single-issue story ideas that Mirage was considering. I was also in touch with them about a full-length novel I wanted to write, that would take the TMNT back to their darker, grittier roots – the way I prefer them to be. I actually ended up being put in touch with Mirage Studios’s agent regarding that project. All of those fell through when the franchise sold, and Mirage Studios shut down.

Also, I am a huge Batman fan. I have several Batman stories that I would love to write. Someone associated with DC Comics reviewed them several years ago. I was basically told “Not at this time”, and that was that.

Since Amazon launched Kindle Worlds, I’ve been hoping for the TMNT and Batman to become part of that. If that were to happen, I might finally be able to write these stories, do so legitimately, rather than them being unlicensed fan fiction, and get paid for my time, efforts, and talent, too. Much as I love writing, it’s what I do. I need to be paid. I can’t just write these stories because I want to, and not see a return on them.

Now, I’m reading articles on-line talking about how Kindle Worlds isn’t performing to expectations. I haven’t yet heard anything about Amazon shutting down Kindle Worlds, luckily, so there’s still hope. But, I’ve been wondering if there are other licensed fan fiction sites out there that are paying markets. Are there? I’ve yet to find any. If you know of one – or more! – please let me know via the “Contact” form on my website.
