Again…#SaveConstantine

NBC-Constantine

Recently acclaimed actor Mr. Stephen Amell, who plays the lead role of Oliver Queen on the hit CW series “Arrow” began talking on-line about efforts to save the TV series “Constantine“. Mr. Amell would not only like to see the show revived, be it on NBC, or some other network, but he would also like to cameo in the series as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. Due to this wish on the part of Mr. Amell, it would be wonderful to see the CW network pick up “Constantine”, and incorporate it into their “Arrow”/”The Flash“/”DC’s Legends of the Future” and CBS’s “Supergirl” TV world/continuity.

Why take a day of my writing blog to talk about this here? Because, in part, Desirée Lee and I loved “Constantine”. We want to see more. We want the show brought back. I’m trying to do my own part for the #SaveConstantine efforts that are still going on. And, because, I’d love to write for the show. I’ve talked about that in a couple of prior posts on this website/blog. See those posts here and here, respectively.

If anyone reading this can help get the show back on the air, and enable me to co-write even a single episode of it, please do so! I’m a bestselling, award-winning fantasy/horror/paranormal author with screenwriting, and comic book writing experience.

#‎SaveConstantine‬ Again

On this past Friday night, the season finale of “Constantine” aired on NBC. Depending upon how things play out, it may end up being the series finale. To everyone involved in the making of “Constantine”, the offer I made in an earlier post on this blog still stands.

#‎SaveConstantine‬

You all know I’m a huge comic book fan. I love the DC Comics Universe (DCU). That addiction has rubbed off onto my wonderful wife, Desirée Lee, as well. Both of us are currently thrilled by the DCU-based television shows that are currently on the air. One of our favorites is “Constantine“, which is based on the DCU comic series “Hellblazer”, and focuses on the character John Constantine. Matt Ryan is playing the lead character in the show, and John Constantine could not have been better cast! Mr. Ryan is doing an absolutely superb job with this role!

While the show is a hit with fans, and a lot of those fans are very rabid about it, the network is doing what do many networks do. The series hasn’t become an instant ratings bonanza for them. So, they don’t seem willing to renew it. In fact, they didn’t even order a second half to the first season. Now, I’m hearing that, rather than outright cancel “Constantine”, NBC is giving serious thought to turning the series over to SyFy. It seems that a marathon of “Constantine” episodes ran on that network, and received good ratings. So, there’s a chance that we’ll see “Constantine” dropped by NBC, but picked up by SyFy under the same name as the comic book – “Hellblazer”. I’m 100% fine with that, as long as SyFy continues the show, and keeps the same case. Mr. Matt Ryan is John Constantine! I never want to see anyone else in the role after seeing his portrayal of this extremely complex character.

Being a fan, and looking down the proverbial barrel of a network change, I have to put this out there: I would love to work on an episode (or more!) of “Constantine”/”Hellblazer” as a writer! Can anyone reading this make that happen? If so, please get in touch with me via the “Contact” page of my website. I’d love to be part of the show’s next incarnation!

For those reading this who don’t know me, I’m a bestselling, award-winning writer with over 30 short stories, and nine books to my name. I’ve also branched out into comic book projects with my wife – “Confluence” and “MoonWraith” – as well as film work.

As you all well know by this time, I’m a huge comic book fan. I’m a non-repentant fanboy of the DC Comics Universe ( DCU ). You can’t imagine how thrilled I am right now with the amount of DCU-based television and film projects that are either currently on the air, or in development. We have “Arrow” and “The Flash” on the CW Network, with “iZombie” – a comic book I haven’t read – coming soon. Fox is airing “Gotham”. NBC has “Constantine”. CBS is rumored to have a “Supergirl” series in the works.

Any the movies! We have “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” due out in 2016, “Wonder Woman”, “Justice League”, a “Green Lantern” reboot, “The Flash”, “Aquaman”, “Shazam”, and several others in various stages of development right now, too, including new solo Batman and Superman films. I plan to be in the theater for each of those I’ve listed here. I can’t wait!

As a bestselling, award-winning writer of books, comic books and screenplays, and a fan of the DCU, I would love, love, love to work on a DCU-based project. Be it an actual DCU comic book title, a novel based on a character, or a TV or film project. I’ve posted on this blog before regarding a “Green Lantern” sequel, and my desire to work on an “Aquaman” project. I would link back to the “Green Lantern” post, but that was regarding an article I had written for “Nuclear Winter Entertainment” when I was a contributing writer for them. That site is now defunct, and the article linked to in the aforementioned post is, like the rest of the site, gone.

Batman is my primary DCU character. I have story ideas involving him that I’d like to write. Since the launching of DC’s New 52, I’ve become almost as big of an Aquaman fan, too, and want very much to work on an “Aquaman” project. As DC and Warner Bros. don’t seem to have too much faith in that character, maybe they’d be willing to allow me a shot at that?

What do you say, DC Comics, and Warner Bros.? Here I stand, or sit, to be fully truthful – a bestselling, award-winning writer of books, comics, and screenplays, as well as a DCU fan, asking you flat-out to give me a shot at a DCU-based project. Comic? A novel? TV show? Film? Your choice, guys! Please let me hear from you!
