“Dart” – Indie Screenplay Seeking Producer

Option “Dart” for $3,000 for one year.

Logline: After an experimental Graves Disease cure gives comic book artist Porter Hardwood near-super speed, he uses his new power to fight crime.

Synopsis: Porter Harwood is comic book illustrator struggling to meet a deadlines because he suffers from Graves Disease. He undergoes a new treatment. His parents and girlfriend, Sonja Carruth, are there to offer support.

Meanwhile, a drug cartel is building up its business in the city.

Porter realizes something in him has changed. He has what amounts to a super power now—he can move at near-super speed. Porter keeps this a secret and begins trying to learn to control this ability, using it in his work to avoid missing deadlines.

Meanwhile, the cartel’s business continues growing.

Realizing that he has an ability that can make a difference, Porter fashions a costume for himself and hits the streets as a vigilante crime fighter. Upon stopping a drug deal, Porter discovers a case of money. Unable to help himself, he takes the cash with him.

Dart’s activities are quickly noted by the cartel. The two top men in the organization—Horacio Rosul and Dillon Whittenbeck—begin looking into their new problem.

When Porter begins treating Sonja to expensive meals she grows suspicious. When he loses control of his power in front of her, she forces him to tell her what is going on. Stunned at his explanation, she leaves him. Distraught, Porter hits the streets harder.

The cartel discovers Dart’s true identity and sends an assassin after him. Injuries Porter sustains during the attack cause muscle spasms which require him to seek medical treatment. Curing the spasms cures Porter of his power.

Not knowing what has become of Porter, the cartel sends the assassin to kidnap Sonja. They contact Porter at a public event and tell him to come and get her. Porter arrives, powerless, and he and Sonja manage to escape. In the process, the cartel leaders and the assassin are brought down.

The film ends with Porter and Sonja living the good life in Key West with the money Porter had stolen from the drug cartel.

Trying

A while back I talked a bit here about the director who was interested in making “Dart“. Sorry to say, there isn’t much to report on that front to date. The director is still interested. He is still working toward making “Dart” a reality. But, in the film business, things tend to move very, very slowly. This project is proving to be the rule, not the exception. If and when things move forward more on this project, I’ll let you all know.

Crowdfunding?

Recently I talked a bit here about how a director had begun reading the movie script for “Dart“. He likes the project, and is very interested. “Dart” would be a fairly low-budget film to make. The director is interested in trying crowdfunding to gain the needed funds for this. However, when I’ve tried crowdfunding in the past I’ve not had any luck with it at all. Can anyone reading this help make such a page a success for us in the event the director does try that route on this project? Suggestions? Comments?

Dart_Amazon_Studios_Art

I have a bit of good news to share. I’ve mentioned before here about several screenplays that I’m trying to find homes for. One of those is an action script titled “Dart“. A director is now reading over that script. Should anything happen on this front, I’ll report what I can, when I can, here on this site/blog.

Wish me luck, please!

“Dart” Script on Stage32

Dart_Amazon_Studios_Art

Recently, I’ve begun listing the screenplays I’m trying to sell on a social networking site for the film industry. That site is called Stage32. Here’s the listing for “Dart“. Please share this around for me. The more people who see it, the better.

Thank you!
