Recent Updates

Lately, I’ve been quiet but things haven’t BEEN quiet; I’ve been very busy…

This coming Saturday, May 5, 2012, I’ll be at Yancy Street Comics (located inside Gulf View Square Mall in Port Richey, FL.) for the 2012 Free Comic Book Day event. I’ll be selling work and signing autographs, as well as debuting a short promo of Issue #1 of the on-going comic book series “Wendy Markland: Chronicles Nocturnum”. That series is based on my Wendy Markland novels and features artwork by James Smith.

I’m also still working on my newest novel, “Quintana Roo, Yucatan” and a new novella that I plan to use for promotional purposes.

Today, I’ve been asked by an actress/model/TV host/director/producer for the pilot script of “MoonWraith”. “MoonWraith” is a 1-hour character-driven horror/action/adventure TV series. I have 42 people who want to be part of the project as cast or crew. I’m only lacking a producer/distributor. And one is reading the script as of today… Wish me luck, please. If she’s interested, we could see some movement on “MoonWraith” in the near future.

Amidst all of this, I’m getting ready to move to California. I’ll be relocating in June. I’m moving to be with my girlfriend, paranormal romance author Desirée Lee. Please check out Desirée’s website:

All in all, it’s very busy here and looking to get more so quickly. Please “Like” my Facebook fan page to keep up with the latest; I’m far better about posting a quick update there than I am at keeping up with other sites. My fan page URL is:

My Book – Fun Facts Round #2

“Winter’s Rite” – – was first planned with a different title and to be set in the modern day Gulf ofMexico, pitting merfolk against humans.

“Well Wishes” – – was originally my second self-published novel.

“Gauntlet” – – was inspired by a scene from the film “Batman Forever”.

“Predators or Prey?” – – was the first Wendy Markland novel and not originally meant as Book 1 of a series.

“Necromancer” – – was the second Wendy Markland novel.

“Vindicated” –– was challenging due to my need to create vampires different from those seen in the series’ first book.

The bonus story “Remnants”, included in the print edition of “Predators or Prey?” – – is Wendy Markland’s first encounter with a ghost.

The “Shadow Castes” trilogy, which begins with “Shadow Castes: Book 1 – Aspects” – – began as ideas for two separate books.

“Quintana Roo,Yucatan” – Forthcoming – is one of my rare non-paranormal projects.

My Books – Fun Facts

“Winter’s Rite” – – began as the final assignment for a children’s literature course.

Several scenes in “Well Wishes” – – came to me in dreams.

I wrote more drafts of “Gauntlet” – – prior to its publication than anything else I’ve ever written.

Wendy Markland, who first appeared in “Predators or Prey?” – – was inspired by the character of Peter Vincent from the film “Fright Night” (1985)

“Necromancer” – – was written, in large part, just to see Wendy Markland using the blade launcher against zombies.

Originally, “Vindicated” – – was planned as the final Wendy Markland story.

The print edition of “Predators or Prey?” – – contains an original Wendy Markland short story, “Remnants”, as a bonus.

“Shadow Castes: Book 1 – Aspects” – – is Book 1 of a trilogy; 60 chapters divided into three 20-chapter novels.

In “Quintana Roo,Yucatan” – Forthcoming – the main character, Rikki Breitenberg, was named after the character Rikki Chadwick from the TV series “H2O: Just Add Water”.

Second Sentence Shares

Authors sometimes use the first sentence of a book in promos. For one of my books, the first sentence may well affect the read for the previous book for anyone who hasn’t yet read it. So, I’m going to use the second sentence of each of my books for promos.

Second sentence share: “Winter’s Rite” – – Avari pushed himself upward, breaking the surface of the water with his head and shoulders.

Second sentence share: “Well Wishes” – – Her voice, rhythmic and harmonious, typical of the Elven race, was heavily laced with anxiety.

Second sentence share: “Gauntlet” – – He squinted in the near darkness, checking that he had the Slim-Jim in the proper place.

Second sentence share: “Predators or Prey?” – – Revealed in the wake of the knitted material were white arm hairs and brown age spots.

Second sentence share: “Necromancer” – – The contemplation rolled through Wendy Markland’s mind for the millionth time that day.

Second sentence share: “Vindicated” – – Ahead of her, the sun-bleached blacktop shimmered in the baking sun, the mirage giving the impression that the gray asphalt has been flooded with water.

Second sentence share: “Shadow Castes: Book 1 – Aspects” – noise assaults his ears as the strident sounds of the too-loud music pummel the roof beneath him, shaking the entire building in rhythm with the pulsing beat

Second sentence share: “Quintana Roo, Yucatan” – Forthcoming – Clearing the last micro droplets of sweat away, her vision returned to normal and the green blur she had been seeing sharpened into layers upon layers of leaves, fronds, vines and ferns once again.

“Predators or Prey?” film adaptation funding sought.

Every since the first Wendy Markland novel, “Predators or Prey?”, was released by Dark Castle Lords Publications in its original e-book edition in 2008, there has been interest in adapting it as a film, TV series or web-series –

Different people have wanted to do different things with it. Sadly, to date, they’ve all fallen through.

Currently, an independent producer who wants to make a film adaptation of “Predators or Prey?” is estimating a $3 million budget to do the project. An actor who wants to be involved says that, if the producer and/or I can come up with the first 500K then he, the actor, should be able to get hold of the remaining $2.5 million for this project.
