“Mojito Cove” Update

Good morning, everyone!

Given the long time I spent away from this blog, I honestly can’t remember if I ever talked about “Mojito Cove” here before, or not. If not, or if it’s just been so long that you don’t remember, “Mojito Cove” is a novella I’m working on. It’s one of several WIPs I have at the moment.

For the last few weeks I’ve been stuck on “Mojito Cove”. I hit a proverbial wall with the plot, and couldn’t move past it. Well, two nights ago I had a totally sleepless night. I think it was the first night in my life during which I didn’t get at least a little sleep. Thank you, fibromyalgia insomnia.

Anyway, during that sleepless night, I at least got some mental work done. I kept bouncing between two projects. One of those being “Mojito Cove”. I figured out what I needed to bridge the plot gap I’ve been facing, and pretty much ran mentally through the rest of the novella – which I’m close to winding down, anyway.

I don’t want to say much about “Mojito Cove” here at the moment, as it is still a WIP. Sorry, but I’ve had ideas stolen before after talking about them on-line. I learned that lesson the hard way. I will say, however, that “Mojito Cove” is my first-ever mermaid story. Our 5-year-old daughter is obsessed with mermaids. So, she loves the fact that Daddy is writing a mermaid story. At times I don’t think she fully understands what it is that Daddy does. But just the fact that Daddy is working on something involving a mermaid is cool to her.

Hopefully there’ll be more to report on “Mojito Cove” soon!

“Mojito Cove”

Hi, everyone!

My current project is a novella entitled “Mojito Cove”. It’s a mermaid story – much to our 5-year-old daughter’s delight. I’m most of the way through the rough draft. My fibromylgia has made it slow going, but hasn’t stopped me. I don’t want to say too much about “Mojito Cove” yet. So, keep watching for updates, and news.

A couple of years ago Desiree Lee and I dropped our TV service in favor of Netflix. So, if a show isn’t on Netflix, and we don’t see advertising for it somewhere else, things that would be of interest to us slip by us once in a while. This is the case with the Animal Planet show “Mermaids“. Fiction or not, it got us both to doing a lot of thinking – both in general terms, and along the lines of projects she and I are currently writing individually. This thinking has spurred this post – and the idea for a possible new, non-fiction, project.

Has anyone out there reading this post has a sighting of a creature or being they would classify as a mer-creature? I hesitate to simply say “mermaid”, because that would only indicate the female of such a species. “Merman” would only indicate the male of such a species. So, I’ll say “merfolk” for the duration of this post. And any others I post here in the future on this topic. If you have had such a sighting, please get in touch with me via the “Contact” page on my website. I’d be very interested in hearing from you. Please don’t waste my time, or your own, with jokes. I’m not interested. This request is for serious eye-witness sightings. If I get enough of a response to this post, I’ll talk more about the potential non-fiction project I have in mind. If not, I won’t bother due to perceived lack of interest.
