Consulting

I’m the bestselling, award-winning author of 30+ published short stories, eight novels, and one novella. My wife Desirée Lee, and myself write, and create the hit mature audience werewolf horror webcomic “MoonWraith”. I’ve also done other comic book work, and branched out into screenplays.

Also, I’m Wiccan, and have made a study and practice of magick. Years of my life have also been devoted to the study of, and dealing with, various aspects of the supernatural, and cryptozoology.

I’d be willing and able to work in the capacity of a consultant in any of the above topics, or fields. That goes for research projects, books, or practical applications. Please just contact me via my website. I have no doubt that we can work out a fair fee for my time and energies. I look forward to hearing from you!

Notes

Notes

Not too long ago, I mentioned here that I’ve been mulling over ideas for a new project. Over the past few days, things have really begun to crystallize in my mind on a lot of details for that book. I’ve begun making some notes for it. I even have a title in mind for it! As I’ve said here before, I don’t like to start work on a project without having a title for it. Even if that title changes later on, I like to something in mind to think of a project by. I’m happy to have a title for this one already, and not to be going through a repeat of the long title choosing process that Desirée Lee and I went through on “Hidden Tribe“!

When will I truly begin work on this book? At this point, I have no idea. Sorry. I’m very excited about it. But Desirée and I are still wrapping up “Hidden Tribe”. After that, we’ll be embarking on a new feature-length screenplay. If,that it, things do come together for that as planned and expected. That film will be in collaboration with the very talented musician Mr. Tom Smith. The script will be based on one of Mr. Smith’s songs. Mr. Smith is also interested in scoring the soundtrack for the project. Please keep watching this blog/website for more information on that project if/when it develops.

After that screenplay, I’d very much like to kick off the “Warder” and/or “Ravenesque” series of books or novellas. We still aren’t 100% sure which route we want to take on those. And, of course, we need to keep up with “MoonWraith“, and duties involving our publishing company, Umbral Press. And there are other books I have in the works, plus other things Desirée and I are coauthoring. Most importantly of all, we’re also parents to a wonderful 21-month-old daughter.

So, this new book idea is on the back burner for now. I’ve no idea when I’ll truly begin work on it. But, in way, that’s a good thing. As I continue thinking about it, new ideas come to me. Hopefully this will result in a richer, better read for you – my fans. As I haven’t really even started this book yet, I don’t want to say too much about it. But it will be fantasy – the genre so many of you have joined me on my journey for. Yet it’ll be a type of book I’ve never written before. The characters will be anthropomorphic animals. Yet the book will be for an adult audience. What I have in planned is something I look forward to writing for you, and fully expect to enjoy creating. I hope all of you will be as excited about reading it as I am about writing it.

Hidden

Recently an idea that has been percolating in the back of my mind for two or three years has started to take shape. It has the feeling of something hidden, though. I can sense the idea growing, and taking shape. Yet it’s as if I catch a small glimpse of it from time to time, but never really see it in its entirety. So, I keep mentally running around, trying to catch this idea, or at least get a better look at it. But it continues to allude me.

If I can ever get this idea “captured”, it would be for a new novella. Maybe a novel. I think it would actually work well for a series of novellas, or novels. It’s wait and see for a series at the moment, though. As I said, the core idea is proving to be very elusive.

“Quagmire Fen”

quagmirefen_Cover

Several projects are in the works here. Some of them are books of varying lengths. I look forward to returning to work on them. Lately, however, film and comic book projects have been keeping me away from book projects. Once the screenplay-in-progress is wrapped up, the next thing on my agenda is a return to one of the novels-in-progress. I look forward to that.

Right now, though, “Quagmire Fen” is my most recent release. It was released in January of 2013, and is my first novella. Please click on the title, or the cover image to be taken to its listing on Amazon.

“Quagmire Fen”

Bog skulks are small, mysterious creatures with vicious teeth and claws. They turned up in Quagmire Fen some time ago. No one seems to know what they are or where they came from.

Spencer Foster is a young man who has lived his entire life in the poor backwater of Quagmire Fen. He despises the swamp, and wants only to leave and start a new life in the city with his girlfriend. But his callous drunkard of a father has other ideas.

Very soon, Spencer’s life is irrevocably changed. His destiny is now linked to the bog skulks and Quagmire Fen.

What are the bog skulks? Where did they come from? What is the connection between Spencer Foster and the odd beings he’s given so little thought to?

New Premise

A weird dream I had last night has inspired what I think will be developed into a series of novellas. Desirée Lee agrees that it’s a unique concept. I’ve no idea when I’ll begin work on the first installment, given everything else we have underway at the moment, though. This is that much more stacked up on the proverbial back burner.

Right now, Desirée and I are getting ready for the 1st Annual Klamath Library ComicCon. We’ll be appearing there on October 25th. At the same time, we’re getting Issue #2 of “Confluence” ready for publication. I’m also co-writing the new movie that I’m not saying much about as yet.

After those, we need to concentrate on the sasquatch novel we have underway. It looks as if we have a good promotional opportunity lined up for that next summer—if the book has been published by then.

Once the sasquatch novel is finished and out, we have the purposed/planned film project that we’ll be teaming up with the extremely talented Tom Smith on.

All of that, plus other projects Desirée and I are working on together, and separately, including keeping up with “MoonWraith“. And that’s just writing work. Remember, we have a young daughter, so family time is of great importance to us, too.

So, we’re booked pretty solid for the next year or so. Still, I want to get this new premise slotted in when I can. Maybe it’s just that it’s a new idea, but I’m very excited about it. Please keep watching for updates—not only for this new project idea, but everything else Desirée and I have going on.

Thanks For Your Patience

For those fans and readers who are with me solely for my novels, I want to take a moment to thank you for your patience. Lately, I’ve been devoting far, far more time to work on comic book and film projects than I have been devoting to novels. “MoonWraith” is ongoing. Due to that, I need to keep up with my part on it to ensure that a new page is up each and every Monday. “Confluence“, having been launched, need to continue. It will be released bimonthly. That gives me time to work on other things between issues of it, but I still need to make sure my part of each issue of it gets done on time. I’m also working on some screenplay projects. A potential Executive Producer is going over material for “MoonWraith” to decide if he’s interested in adapting the webcomic as a film, or as its originally-intended television series concept. I’m also embarking on a new screenplay project with someone else. See several of my recent posts for what little I’m able and willing to say about that project at the moment.

Still, I am a novelist. I haven’t forgotten that – or those fans who are with me only for my novels. Several novels are in various stages of completion right now. Desiree Lee and I are currently coauthoring several things at once. Not all of those books are fiction. Please keep checking back for information and updates on those as we get closer to publication on them. If and when the four books of mine that are no longer available are re-edited and re-released under a different publishing house, then I’ll be continuing with those series, too. Ideas are also bouncing around for sequels to my award-winning, bestselling novel “Quintana Roo, Yucatan“, and my critically-acclaimed novella “Quagmire Fen“.

Much as I’d like to be working on everything at once, there simply isn’t time. And, besides work, I have a wife and a 13-month-old child. Our daughter alone is a full-time job! Rest assured, though, that I haven’t forgotten that I’m a novelist. Thank you all again for your on-going patience during this stretch between books. There will be more novels – many, many more, I hope. It’s just a matter of time.

5-Star Review for “Quagmire Fen”

quagmirefen_Cover

“Quagmire Fen” is my most recent release. It’s my ninth book, but my first novella. It has also just picked up another 5-star review:

“What a wonderful, delightful, magical, tale! We have here a sort of bayou- backwoods-rural fantasy, with multiverses, magical beings, and alternate dimensions! The villainous characters (Otis and Randal) qualify as some of the nastiest, meanest, wastes-of-lives I’ve read; but the Good characters are precious, and heartwarming. There is hope in the swamp (and even in the city!)

If you like your paranormal with a flair of sci fi, and your romance with a flavor of paranormal–well, come right over here; have I got the tale for you!

A kind gift of the author provided me with a copy in return for my fair-and unpaid-review.”

That review can be found on Amazon, Goodreads, and other places.
