Katherine McNamara

katherine_mcnamara

Desirée Lee, and I have been watching “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments” since the pilot episode aired. We both love the show, and are always eager for the next episode. Watching the show week-to-week, season-to-season, I’ve come to the conclusion that if any film project – be it TV, or movie – is made based upon my Wendy Markland novels (once they’re re-edited, and re-released) I would love to see Katherine McNamara play the role of Wendy Markland. She looks pretty much like I’ve always envisioned the character while writing her. And, having seen Katherine McNamara in so many episodes of “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments”, I have no doubt that she could handle the role of Wendy Markland with no problems.

As there has been talk of various film versions of my Wendy Markland books since “Predators or Prey?” was first released back in 2007, I wanted to throw this out there. Again, I would love to see Katherine McNamara play Wendy Markland.

Basin Gaming

Predators or Prey Print Front Cover_Small

It’s been brought to my attention that Basin Gaming (1111 Main Street, Klamath Falls, Oregon) has a couple of copies of the out-of-print paperback edition of my first Wendy Markland book, “Predators or Prey?” in stock. So, if anyone is in the area, and wants to grab a copy, now is your chance!

“Predators or Prey?” will – hopefully! – be re-edited, and released under a different publishing label at some point in the future.

Cosplay

Several times people have suggested to me that a good method promotion at book signings would be to have a cosplayer with me, dressed up as a character from one of my novels. Sometimes people have suggested Wendy Markland – from my currently unavailable Wendy Markland series – would be perfect for this. Others have suggested one of the faerie beings from “Winter’s Rite” and “Well Wishes“.

What do you all think? Would something like that be a good idea?

Creepy Toys

In yesterday’s post I talked a bit about the Wendy Markland prequel short story that I’m working on. As research for that project, I have a question for you all:

What do you think is the creepiest toy currently for sale on today’s market? Please let me know in a comment, or e-mail via the “Contact” form on my website.

Thank you!

Prequel

Stake

Not long ago I mentioned on this blog/website that a brand new, original Wendy Markland short story would be included in the Umbral Press re-release of my first Wendy Markland book, “Predators or Prey?” A concept for that project has been agreed upon. This new short story will be a prequel to the Wendy Markland series as a whole, taking place before the events covered in “Predators or Prey?”. The working title of the piece is currently “It Isn’t Paranoia”. It will be included in the re-release along with the previously published short story, “Remnants”. Currently, “Predators or Prey?”, and “Remnants” are undergoing a new editing process. Meanwhile, I’m plotting out “It Isn’t Paranoia”, which is planned to have a far larger impact on Wendy Markland down the road…

Editing

IM000144.JPG

Edits are well underway on my first Wendy Markland novel, “Predators or Prey?”, for a re-release via Umbral Press. It’s been a while now since I parted ways with the publishing company that first released the three existing Wendy Markland books – “Predators or Prey?”, “Necromancer”, and “Vindicated”. With the edits going on for the re-release, it has come to my attention just how poorly-edited the previous editions – the original e-book release, and the paperback release that came some time afterward – were. I apologize to each and every one of you for that poor editing. The editing was one of the problems with that publisher; it was one of the reasons I left them. I had no idea that the final, published editions of “Predator or Prey?” were such a mess, though. Expect different from the Umbral Press re-release.

While I’m on the subject, expect the Umbral Press re-release of “Predators or Prey?” to include two short stories featuring your favorite monster hunter – Wendy Markland. The current plan is for this new edition to include “Remnants”, a short story which had been added to “Predators or Prey?” for the prior paperback release, and also a new, original, first-time-in-print short story.

Please keep watching for news, and updates!

Wendy Markland Question

A lot of my fans and readers have joined me on my journey because of my Wendy Markland books – “Predators or Prey?”, “Necromancer”, and “Vindicated” to date. Presently, those books are not available due to a parting of the ways with the publisher who put them out. Plans are in place for those projects to be re-edited, and released via a different publisher. It’s just a matter of getting the work done. Once the new editions of those books are out, I plan to continue writing Wendy’s (mis)adventures. But, I have a question for you all.

Quite a few people have expressed a wish for Wendy to venture outside the United States of America in her capacity as a monster-hunter. A few seeds of ideas for that have occurred to me, but nothing concrete. My question for you all of you is actually in two parts, and is this:

Would you like to see Wendy working outside the USA? And, if so, where would you most like to see her venture?

“Fright Night” Documentary

Recently, I found out that next year – 2016 – Dead Mouse Productions is releasing a new documentary on the classic vampire horror film “Fright Night”. This project will be a must-see for me. Mr. Roddy McDowall’s portrayal of Peter Vincent was the inspiration for my Wendy Markland character. Find out more about what’s going on with that character in this older post from this blog/website. In the meantime, I’ll be looking forward to “You’re So Cool, Brewster”!

“Predators or Prey?” Script on Stage32

Predators_or_Prey_Amazon_Studios

Recently, I’ve begun listing the screenplays I’m trying to sell on a social networking site for the film industry. That site is called Stage32. Here’s the listing for “Predators or Prey?“. Please share this around for me. The more people who see it, the better.

Thank you!

More Wendy Markland

BlackEyes

A lot of my fans know me best for my Wendy Markland series of novels. Sadly, the three previously published books in that series – “Predators or Prey?”, “Necromancer”, and “Vindicated” – are currently unavailable since I parted ways with the publisher who put those out. I have the rights back on all three of those books. There are plans for those to be re-edited, and released under a different publishing label. It’s a slow process, though. Please be patient; we’ll get there.

Once those three are released again, I fully intend to continue the series. A fourth book is sitting here in rough draft form. Look for it to come along after the original three have been re-released. Once Book 4 is out, I still plan to go further. I have a lot of new material in mind. The comic book series, “Wendy Markland: Chronicles Nocturnum”, is still up in the air. Unfortunately, that project is all but dead at this point. However, there are still faint glimmers of hope from time to time; nothing I’m at liberty to discuss here and now, though. If the comic series doesn’t happen, I’ll have story ideas I planned to do in it to adapt as novels, or short stories, too.

Long story short, I plan to keep working with Wendy Markland for a long time to come. There are plenty of adventures, and misadventures, in store for her. Again, please bear with me. I’m juggling several projects at the moment, one of which is on a deadline. I’ve also embarked on the screenwriting course I posted about recently. Not to mention that I’m a husband, and father, too. Thank you all for your patience, and understanding.
